The Secret to Living a Happy Life
Where is happiness found? People think happiness is found in wealth, pleasure, fame, and power. Let's take a look at these and see where they will get you.
Wealth
Wise investor and multi-billionaire Warren Buffet has this to say about money-chasing investors:
"Nothing sedates rationality like large doses of effortless money. After a heady experience of that kind, normally sensible people drift into behavior akin to that of Cinderella at the ball. They know that overstaying the festivities...will eventually bring on pumpkins and mice. But they nevertheless hate to miss a single minute of what is one [amazing] party. Therefore, the giddy participants all plan to leave just seconds before midnight. There's a problem, though: They are dancing in a room in which the clocks have no hands."
Pleasure
On a recent trip to Paris, celebrity Kim Kardashian and her husband looked forward to a romantic time in their luxury accommodations. Only problem was that Kim spent the entire time worrying that her sister was getting too much attention from her husband. A friend reported, "When they were in the most romantic city in the world, they were both so unhappy."
Fame
Michael Jordan at his Basketball Hall of Fame press conference said, "This is not fun for me. I don't like being up here for the Hall of Fame because at that time your basketball career is completely over. I was hoping this day would be 20 more years, or actually go in when I'm dead and gone. Because now, all along...you always [could] put shorts on and go out and play. Now, when you get into the Hall of Fame, what else is there to do?"
Power
The president of the Russian federation, Vladimir Putin, has been quoted saying, "Despite all the achievements of civilization, the human being is still one of the most vulnerable creatures on earth."
Happiness is not found anywhere in these. Happiness is ONLY found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." John 6:35
"For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness." Psalms 107:9
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31
Through Jesus Christ is the only way to find true happiness that cannot be found anywhere else. He gives us love, joy, and peace as a gift from God that cost you nothing.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
If you trust and believe in him, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins. Accept God's gift of salvation today and you will discover what true happiness is.
